On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the induction furnace used in our large casting production foundry (LCP) experienced a major failure. The LCP furnace was damaged beyond repair. The furnace was used to produce large castings weighing more than approximately 8,000 pounds. Also damaged was the building and an overhead crane used in production.
The main foundry, which produces castings under 6,000 pounds, was not affected by this incident. We expect to resume production in the main foundry on Monday, October 7, 2024. Unfortunately, lead times on orders have been affected. We are working diligently to keep delays to a minimum.
Five employees were injured by the incident. Two employees were hospitalized and are still receiving treatment. The remaining three employees were treated and released by the hospital on the same day.
Delta Centrifugal® would like to express our appreciation to the Temple Fire Department, EMS, and Temple Police Department for their quick response to the situation.
At this time, we do not have an estimate of when production of large castings will resume. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
