Delta Centrifugal Earns AS9100 Certification for Aerospace

Delta Centrifugal Achieves AS9100 Certification, Strengthening Aerospace Partnerships

Delta Centrifugal Achieves AS9100 Certification, Strengthening Aerospace Partnerships

For more than five decades, Delta Centrifugal® has focused on one thing above all: delivering consistent, high-quality centrifugal castings for demanding industries. Our processes have always met rigorous standards. Now, that commitment is formally recognized.

Delta is now AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified, placing us among a select group of centrifugal casting foundries qualified to meet high level aerospace and defense requirements. The certification covers the manufacture of centrifugal castings and machined parts made from stainless steel, nickel and copper alloys, cobalt, duplex, and other specialized materials.

This isn’t a shift in how we operate. It’s a formal acknowledgment of the systems and discipline that have long been part of how we work.

Why AS9100 Certification Matters

AS9100 is the aerospace industry’s quality management standard. It builds on ISO 9001 by adding strict requirements for risk control, process documentation, supplier oversight, and traceability. Many aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers require their partners to hold this certification.

For procurement teams and engineers, AS9100 provides confidence that a supplier’s processes are consistent and documented. It helps minimize production risks, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and makes quality data easier to trace across every stage of production.

In short, it’s one of the clearest ways to identify suppliers who can meet the demands of high-consequence industries like aerospace and defense.

What Companies Look for When Choosing a Foundry

When organizations evaluate centrifugal casting partners, a few factors consistently come up:

  • Material expertise: The ability to pour a range of alloys, including stainless steels, nickel and cobalt alloys, and specialty grades.
  • Dimensional flexibility: Capacity to handle large outside diameters, long lengths, and tight tolerances with reliable repeatability.
  • In-house machining and QA: Fewer handoffs mean better control over lead times and quality.
  • Testing and traceability: Clear, verifiable records for chemical analysis, heat treatment, inspections, and first-article data.
  • Regulatory compliance: Certifications like AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, and PED are often mandatory in aerospace programs.
  • Reliability: Proven systems that reduce supplier risk and keep production timelines on track.

AS9100 certification strengthens each of these points by embedding risk management and documentation into daily operations.

How Delta Meets These Expectations

Broad Material and Dimensional Capabilities

We pour a wide range of alloys, including stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, copper alloys, cobalt, and duplex steels. Our foundry supports outside diameters from 3 to 31 inches, inside diameters from 1.5 to 30 inches, and lengths up to 276 inches. This flexibility allows us to support both standard and highly specialized applications.

Manufacturing and Machining Under One Roof

Our operation integrates the foundry, machine shop, and quality assurance in a single facility. With more than 40 CNC machines, including multi-axis lathes, we can finish parts up to 32 inches in diameter and 27 feet in length. Four precision lapping tables help us achieve mirror finishes with tight light band tolerances. This vertical integration reduces lead times and keeps quality control in our hands from start to finish.

Testing, Certification, and Documentation

Most testing happens in-house, including chemical, hardness, mechanical, Charpy, microstructure, dimensional, and penetrant inspections. For specialized needs like volumetric, corrosion, and weldability testing, we work with trusted labs. Our furnaces meet API 6A Annex M, AMS-2750, and AMS-H-6875 standards, and we offer multiple quenching methods to meet specific requirements. Every part comes with traceable records that align with AS9100 expectations.

Experience in Regulated Industries

Alongside aerospace and defense, Delta serves power generation, nuclear energy, marine, food and pharmaceutical, and steel manufacturing industries.  Delta Centrifugal® is committed to six quality management systems that include: ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, PED 2014/68/EU, 22CFR PARTS 120-130(ITAR), 10 CFR PART 50(Nuclear QA Program) & 10 CFR part 21(Reporting of Non-conforming product).  Our certifications give customers confidence that we’ll meet both regulatory and operational standards.

What This Means for Aerospace and Defense Programs

Working with an AS9100-certified foundry means fewer unknowns. Your sourcing, quality, and compliance teams gain a partner with:

  • Proven quality systems
  • Deep technical capability
  • Documented processes and traceability
  • A long history of delivering in high-spec environments

For aerospace and defense manufacturers, that combination reduces supplier risk and makes it easier to maintain compliance through every stage of production.
