Guide to Requesting a Centrifugal Casting Quote
Key Takeaways:
- Accurate centrifugal casting quotes require finished dimensions, material grade, specification and delivery expectations.
- Testing requirements like ultrasonic inspection or radiographic examination can significantly impact lead time and cost.
- Understanding the part’s end use can help determine necessary quality assurance and compliance protocols.
At Delta Centrifugal®, our goal is to deliver accurate, timely quotes that align with your project needs. However, many RFQs we receive are missing key information—delaying the quoting process or leading to additional questions. To help you get a fast and precise quote, here’s what we need from you up front:
- Finished Dimensions
Providing final OD, ID, and length ensures we can quote the most economical casting possible. Whether you’re doing the machining or we are, knowing your finished sizes helps us avoid excess material cost and guarantees cleanup during finish machine work.
- Material Grade & Applicable Specifications
Identifying the correct alloy and the specifications you require—ASTM, ASME, or otherwise—ensures the casting meets its intended performance. This is critical for chemical composition, mechanical properties, and specification compliance.
- Delivery Timeline
Let us know your project schedule. If expedited delivery is required, we can offer that into our quote or check with our sister company, Texas Stainless, for available inventory that may meet your needs.
- Testing Requirements
Common tests include: chemistry, hardness & mechanical properties. More in-depth test include: Charpy impact, ultrasonic (UT), radiographic (RT/X-ray), elevated tensile, weldability, and third-party witnessing. These requirements can significantly affect lead time and cost, so it’s important we know when they are required.
- End Use or Application
Let us help you with critical application parts for defense, aerospace, oil & gas, or nuclear.
